The first time I heard of Weaver Street Market was when Mayor Mark Bell referred to it as his "second office." Upon walking in and being greeted with a genuine, "Hello how are you?" I got a glimpse of what makes Weaver Street Market more than just a grocery store--there is a tangible sense of warmth and care, and shoppers are family. The store is really a community hub--here people gather to catch-up, work, hangout, and enjoy incredible food. This feeling was what I initially wanted to capture for my project, as well as all the work that goes on behind the scenes to make it happen.

As I spent more time there talking to and photographing Wesley Aargon, one of the staff who was kind enough to let me into his life with a camera, I became more and more inspired by his story, and wanted to integrate it into the story of Weaver Street Market.

I am so grateful for Weaver Street's welcoming environment in which I could do this project, as well as my incredible conversations with all the other staff. I am also particularly grateful for Wesley who shared with me so much about his incredible life journey, beautiful family, passion for his work, and now sincere friendship.
